Throughout the school, classes have looked at some of the key Black figures and important events from the past which are often overlooked. World War One Soldier - Walter Tull, Arctic Explorer -Matthew Henson; the children learnt the stories and the barriers these people faced and have produced some wonderful literacy outcomes. Additionally, children celebrated the work of several different artists and used their artwork as inspiration for creating their own. It is important that we use Black History Month as a platform to ensure that throughout the year, children are immersed in the diversity of our world and cultures, gaining knowledge about key people from the past.
