Summer 1 Year Group Newsletters

Dear Parents / Carers,

We hope that during the Easter break you were able to take some time as family and enjoy spending time together. Through our weekly phone calls with you, it has been refreshing and heartwarming to hear of the activities you have been doing at home including baking, gardening and keeping active.

Now that we have officially the begun the summer term and in order to bring some structure and routine to the children’s days, we will continue with learning that would happen at school as best we can. This, on the whole, will be set via Google Classroom.

We are aware of the pressures you are under and that you may have other responsibilities which make home-schooling challenging. We have, therefore, tried to keep the activities as independent as we can so children should be able to access all of learning independently.

Online learning should be accessed each day where possible and children should take breaks regularly. We will set a reading, writing and maths activity for each day and an activity each week in our wider curriculum subjects for this term. This learning will appear on your child’s Google Classroom ’stream’ alongside any of the core learning already set. An example of this may be:

Monday - DT & Music

Tuesday  PE

Wednesday - History

Thursday – RE & Science

Friday - French

Please remember to ‘turn in’ assignments as we will not be able to see them if you don’t. If you have any problems operating or logging into Google Classroom, including intermittent or no access to internet/devices, please discuss this in your regular phone conversations with teachers and we will offer any support we can. If you ever have any problems contacting us directly, please be aware that the school office remains open for phone calls during normal school hours. You can also email any queries to:

So that you have a chance to talk to us about work during the week, we will make sure a class teacher is online and available to answer questions every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11:00 and 12:00.  Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 3 & Year 5 class teachers between 10 -11am

Please post your comments and questions there on the main thread. We look forward to seeing you there! You can also ask questions in assignments you work on, but we might not be able to get back to you straight away.

On the Summer 1 Newsletters are descriptions of what you can expect to see under each subject for distance learning this term. We hope you enjoy the activities and projects we set.  Click here for your Summer 1 Year Group Newsletters

Please remember to stay active and have fun away from work with your children and remind them that they may not be at school but we are thinking of them and wish them well.
