Welcome back!

It has been a great start to the half term with lots of exciting learning opportunities, including a Stone Age Day for Year 3 and a visit from Jambs Owls for Nursery and Sycamores class.

To launch their topic based around ‘The Stone Age’, Year 3 were given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the lives of a child living during the Stone Age period. They took part in a variety of activities, including clay pot making and cooking soup on a camp-fire in our Forest School.

To tie in with their learning around ‘Night and Day’, children in both the Nursery and Sycamore classes had a visit from ‘Jambs Owls’, where they had the opportunity to find out some interesting facts about these fascinating creatures. Following on from this visit, which sparked their enthusiasm, Nursery children went on to create their own pictures of owls, adding details to these.

Year 2 have particularly enjoyed their first week back at school, finding out lots of interesting facts about the Great Fire of London. They look forward to exploring more about their topic ‘Fire, Fire’ during a visit from the Fire Brigade next week.

Thank you to everyone that attended parents evenings this week. It was a great opportunity to share news of some of the exciting learning that your children have produced during the first half term.
