Horn Park Update 190320

Dear Parents and Carers,

The government announced yesterday that schools will close on Friday for most of our children.

They also stated that school will remain open for children of frontline workers, children with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) and children who have a social worker. Frontline workers are those working for the NHS, police, fire fighters, care workers and those delivering food. We are waiting for a definitive list from the government as we anticipate that there will be more categories included.

If you think that you are a key worker or your child has an EHCP or named social worker, can you please contact the school by phone or email hpcontact@hornpark.compassps.uk to let us know your child will be attending school on Monday. We need to know the number of children who will be attending so that we can ensure the right staff will be in place.

It is important to understand that this is a different form of provision - we will be providing a similar provision to that which we have set for children to do at home and not the educational provision normally provided. The school day will start and end at the usual time and lunch will be available. We will also be providing meal vouchers to those children who are entitled to a free school meal but are not entitled to attend school.

We will notify the eligible families once we have the details of how the scheme will work.

We understand that this is a very difficult time for everyone. We are living through exceptional times that require an exceptional response. The government has asked schools to play a vital role in the national effort to control the Coronavirus Pandemic and we will respond with commitment and dedication.

We are here for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need help or advice at any point. We continue to collect food for vulnerable community members, and we will continue to provide updates when needed.

Please keep up to date with the latest NHS 111 and Gov.uk advice. Storms make oaks take root - we will come through this together and be a stronger community for it. Please keep healthy and safe and look after yourselves and those around you.

Our very best wishes to you all.
