Year 4 Trip to the Painted halls

Year 4 went to view the Painted Halls, in the Old Royal Naval College. Every 60 years, the Halls are careful cleaned and conserved so that the original paintings are kept in excellent condition.  The children had to climb up 67 steps to the viewing platform, which was 2 metres from the ceiling, and they got to study the paintings using torches and picture frames. We were able to spot the Greek Goddess, Athena and the Greek God, Poseidon. The children loved this fantastic and unique opportunity and enjoyed learning how paints were made over 300 years ago.
